Guidelines for Authors
The Editorial Process
Editorial Policy
Material submitted to the WCSC Indian Journal of Yoga for Human Excellence (IJYHE) must be original and not published or submitted for publication elsewhere in any language. IJYHE follows a double-blind peer review process. The review process is online via https://www.vethathiri.edu.in. and progress can be tracked by Authors. All the authors will receive an acknowledgment email along with a link to track the peer review process. Articles are freely available to both subscribers and the wider public with permitted reuse.
Editorial Review
IJYHE accepts only online submissions via https://www.vethathiri.edu.in / email ijyhe@vethathiri.ac.in. All the submitted articles are reviewed by editorial team. If the article is not prepared as per the journal guidelines, it will be sent to the Authors for ‘Technical check’ before sending it for peer review. Based on the merits, whether to Reject or send to peer review will be decided. The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts without review because either the content is not appropriate for the Journal or the work does not represent a sufficient advance in knowledge to gain high enough priority for publication in the Journal. Such rejections must be approved by the Editor-in-chief, and are intended to avoid unnecessary work for reviewers, as well as to provide authors the opportunity of seeking more appropriate publishing options as soon as possible.
Peer Review
After initial editorial review, articles will be sent for peer review. IJYHE follows double blind peer review process. Manuscripts are reviewed by two or more referees/editorial board members. During manuscript submission authors can suggest reviewers. However, editorial team may not assign manuscripts to same reviewers. Reviewer assignment is based on subject area and competence. Generally, peer review process may take 2 – 4 weeks. Reviewer can suggest Reject, Accept with Revision or Accept without any change. He has to give detailed technical comments on the manuscript. He may reassess the manuscript after revision.
Revision of Manuscript
Editorial team will forward the Reviewers comments to Authors. Authors will receive email notification on change of phase. Authors have to revise the manuscript based on reviewer’s comments and submit ‘Response to comments’ and ‘revised manuscript’.
Editorial Re-Review
Revised manuscript will be reviewed by editorial team to decide whether to Accept, Reject or send to reviewers for reassessment. To improve the quality of manuscript, it can be sent to Authors for Re-revision any number of times. Revision does not guarantee publication. If the authors fail to answer all the queries raised by Editorial team / Reviewer or to improve the quality of manuscript, it can be rejected.
Technical and Language check
All the manuscripts will be checked for English grammar and spelling from experts at WCSC VISION SKY Research Center /publishers. The edited manuscript will be sent to authors along with track changes. Once authors approve the changes, it will be preceded to pagination.
Final PDF Proof
Author Proof
Authors will receive PDF of a manuscript for proof check. Within one week authors need to submit corrections.
Editorial Proof
Editorial team will decide the article order and will go through entire issue before it goes for printing. After the approval from Editor-in-chief, issue will be published.
Intimation of Issue to authors
Authors will be notified by email when their manuscript appears published in the journal. Articles accepted and assigned to next issue of journal will also be intimated to authors.
Timeline: Submission to Acceptance
From submission of manuscript to acceptance it may take around 2 – 3 months. However, sometimes it may take more time due to delay in submitting revision etc. in such case; the article may be considered for consecutive issue.
Appeals
Even in cases where editors did not invite resubmission, some authors ask the editors to reconsider a rejection decision. These are considered appeals, which, by policy, must take second place to the normal workload. In practice, this means that decisions on appeals often take several weeks.
Decisions are reversed on appeal only if the editors are convinced that the original decision was a serious mistake, not merely a borderline call that could have gone either way. Further consideration may be merited if a referee made substantial errors of fact or showed evidence of bias, but only if a reversal of that referee’s opinion would have changed the original decision. Similarly, disputes on factual issues need not be resolved unless they were critical to the outcome. Thus, after careful consideration of the authors’ points, most appeals are rejected by the editors.
If an appeal merits further consideration, the editors may send the authors’ response or the revised paper to one or more referees, or they may ask one referee to comment on the concerns raised by another referee. On occasion, particularly if the editors feel that additional technical expertise is needed to make a decision, they may obtain advice from an additional referee.
Types of Manuscripts
Review articles:
Review articles in this section conduct systematic and critical assessments of literature and data sources. The Indian Journal of Yoga for Human Excellence (IJYHE) publishes diverse review articles, including systematic reviews with meta-analysis, scoping reviews, and narrative reviews. Authored by active scientists or experts in specific fields, particularly those with a history of high-quality original research. The review should offer a comprehensive and unbiased quantitative estimate of the overall effect of an intervention or variable for a defined outcome. Authors are encouraged to submit insightful reviews that contribute value to the scientific community by synthesizing existing literature and providing valuable perspectives on diverse topics related to yoga and its applications. Submissions should be concise, up to a maximum of 4000 words, excluding references and abstract.
Original articles:
Basic studies in the field of yoga (research, scientific, review, conceptual, theoretical, popular etc.), Randomized controlled trials, studies of screening and diagnostic tools based on Indian systems of medicine and allied health sciences, outcome studies, cost effectiveness analyses, case-control series, and surveys with high response rate. Up to a maximum of 2500 words excluding references and abstract.
Short communications:
Short Communications are limited to a maximum of two figures and one table. They should present a complete study that is more limited in scope than is found in full-length papers. The items of manuscript preparation listed for original article will also apply to Short Communications with the following differences:
- Abstracts are limited to 100 words
- instead of a separate Materials and Methods section, experimental procedures may be incorporated into Figure Legends and Table footnotes
- Results and Discussion should be combined into a single section.
(Up to a maximum of 1500 words excluding references and abstract and up to 15 references)
Case reports:
New / interesting / very rare cases treated through Yoga therapy and allied sciences, scientific evaluation of special abilities of Yogis, can be reported. Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content. One or more authors should take responsibility for the integrity of the work as a whole, from inception to published article. Authorship credit should be based only on
- Substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data;
- Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and
- Final approval of the version to be published.
Conditions 1, 2, and 3 must all be met. Acquisition of funding, the collection of data, or general supervision of the research group, by themselves, do not justify authorship. The order of authorship on the byline should be a joint decision of the co-authors. Authors should be prepared to explain the order in which authors are listed. Once submitted the order cannot be changed without written consent of all the contributors.
For a study carried out in a single institute the number of contributors should not exceed six. For a case-report and for a review article the number of contributors should not exceed four. A justification should be included, if the number of contributors exceeds these limits. Only those who have done substantial work in a particular field can write a review article. A short summary of the work done by the contributor (s) in the field of review should accompany the manuscript. The journal expects the contributors to give post-publication updates on the subject of review. The update should be brief, covering the advances in the field after the publication of article and should be sent as letter to editor, as and when major development occur in the field.
Changes to authorship
Authors are expected to consider carefully the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the definitive list of authors at the time of the original submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the authorship list should be made only before the manuscript has been accepted and only if approved by the journal Editor. To request such a change, the Editor must receive the following from the corresponding author: (a) the reason for the change in author list and (b) written confirmation (e-mail, letter) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will the Editor consider the addition, deletion or rearrangement of authors after the manuscript has been accepted. While the Editor considers the request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended. If the manuscript has already been published in an online issue, any requests approved by the Editor will result in a corrigendum.
Contribution Details
Contributors should provide a description of what each of them contributed towards the manuscript. Description should be divided in following categories, as applicable: concepts, design, definition of intellectual content, literature search, clinical studies, experimental studies, data acquisition, data analysis, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, manuscript editing, and manuscript review. Authors’ contributions will be printed on the first page of the article. One or more author should take responsibility of the integrity of the work as a whole from inception to published article and should be designated as ‘guarantor’.
Conflict of Interest
All authors of articles must disclose any and all conflicts of interest they may have with publication of the manuscript or an institution or product that is mentioned in the manuscript and/or is important to the outcome of the study presented. Authors should also disclose conflict of interest with products that compete with those mentioned in their manuscript.

Do not include any information (such as acknowledgement, your names in page headers, etc.) in this file. Use text//doc files. Do not zip the files. Limit the file size to 400 kb. Do not incorporate images in the file. If file size is large, graphs can be submitted as images separately without incorporating them in the article file to reduce the size of the file.
- Images: Submit good quality color images. Each image should be less than 400 kb in size. Size of the image can be reduced by decreasing the actual height and width of the images (keep up to 1024×760 pixels or 5 inches). All image formats (jpeg, tiff, gif, bmp, png, eps, etc.) are acceptable; jpeg is most suitable. Do not zip the files.
- The photographs should be scanned and should be in JPEG files. These should be scanned at 72 dpi, size not more than 3X4 inches (or 300×400 pixels), with only the necessary portion of the photographs. Wherever necessary scan at greyscale (e.g. x-rays, ECGs). The images should NOT be incorporated in the text itself (which increases the file size).
- Legends: Legends for the figures/images should be kept ready for copy-paste during the submission process.
- Since the articles are submitted online there is no need to send hard copies of the articles. The scanned copy of copyright form with the signature of all authors should be submitted through online.
- Submission Preparation Checklist
- As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission’s compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
